The Social Networking and Cuisine Collective (SNACC) is one of the newest clubs at Valencia with lots of exciting potential. Valencia has so much to offer for students, but something was missing for baking, culinary, and hospitality majors- a place for networking and guidance. SNACC is here to help students make industry connections, better themselves and their portfolios, and have fun.
SNACC (originally and briefly called 'field trip club') is the brain child of a group of students wanting to go to a dessert convention together. SNACC will be going on many 'field trips' by attending hospitality/restaurant conventions and doing site visits of various hospitality hubs.
SNACC isn't just field trips. We intend on hosting seminars, guest speakers, and reviews to help students figure out just exactly what their plan is after graduating, and the best way to help themselves reach that goal. Local business owners are going to come in, discuss their story, and answer questions that students have. Active industry professionals will help us by doing resume or portfolio reviews.
At it's core and in it's name, SNACC is a collective- a place for people to come together. A group for students to figure out their goals, inspire each other, and as cheesy as it sounds- make some friends along the way. SNACC has great advisors, Chef E and Chef Rickie, that want to help answer the questions we're a little intimidated to ask about school or work. The SNACC officers are here to help introduce you to the school, and the people in it.
As a cuisine collective- it'd be a little silly if the food aspect wasn't mentioned here. Food does bring people together. Considering we're for baking, culinary and hospitality majors- food is important. SNACC plans on not just having meals/snacks together, but also hosting some fun competitions. We'll have some sales/ fundraisers to help us get to those conventions we talked about- most of them involving food. We've got some exciting 'green initiatives' to help us reduce the amount of food waste coming out of the baking & culinary programs, where we take food that otherwise would've just been tossed, and we give it a new life. Using separated eggs to make frittatas, or cake scraps to make cake pops.
SNACC has so many exciting things planned for the future and we hope you'll join us to be apart of it.
